How Can Adenoids Be Treated While Suffering From Hypothyroidism?
Sir my daughter is six years old recently diagnosed with hypothyroid. She is having adenoids in air way. Sinitus and allergic to dust and certain food. Her tsh level is 100. She is prescribed Thyronorm tablet. How long she need to take these tablets. Beside these she is given clavam dt twice a day and montek LC Kid One in day.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I would like to tell you that enlarged adenoids are mostly cured with antibiotic and steroid therapy. Your daughter has already been started on an antibiotic course so it should resolve in a few days.
Adenoidectomy is needed in cases which do not resolve by Medical therapy. Your daughter's TSH level is very high, and she will be required to take the Thyronorm tablet for a long time.
There is a chance that she may have to take it lifelong depending upon her thyroid levels. You have to get her screened regularly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nazma.Amman
