How Can Allergic Insect Bite On The Finger Be Treated?

my husband was stung or bitten on his finger 3 hrs ago, he did not see what type of insect it was. He has an allergy to beestings. Heimmediately took 2 benydryl. Since then, the symptoms he is showing are swelling of the finger and severe pain in finger. He has not reported any other symptoms similar to what he has experienced in the past after being stung by bee. We have epipen. should we use it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

An anaphylactic reaction usually occurs immediately, so after 3 hours, if he is not having any difficulty breathing, or swelling in his lips or mouth, it does not sound like he needs to use the epinephrine.

I would just suggest continuing to use the Benadryl, as well as using hydrocortisone cream for his finger.

If the finger doesn't improve in the next few days, I would have him see a doctor make sure there is no infection developing.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
