How Can Allergic Itching All Over The Body Be Treated?

Hello, I was stung by many sandflies in Honduras and i had many little itchy bumps all over my body, when i flew to New York the doctor prescribed antihistamine (tablets) and as a follow up, antibiotics, when needed...I reacted allergic to the Antibiotics and then she gave me Steriods....Other than doing a test now to see if it really was the antibiotics i reacted allergic to....is it helpful to do a complete check up, to see if i m ok? How long does it take for all that stuff to get out of my body? I hardly take medicine...maybe an ibuprofen if i have cramps. So i m a little concerned, because i really took some heavy stuff in a short period of time...thank you so much in advance

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of allergic itching all over the body. I would suggest you to keep that area dry and wear loose clothes. You should apply a warm, moist cloth or compress and apply soothing lotions. You should gently wash the infected skin twice a day with antibacterial soap. Take diet rich in fluids. Consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe anti allergic medicine and may give adrenaline shot if condition really severe.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
