How Can Allergic Rashes On The Arms And Legs Be Treated?
My 14 year old son was sledding through grass Saturday afternoon. He and friends were being drug behind an ate on a snow board plastic sled. They were covered in grass and dirt. He has lots of small scratches and allergic looking red bumps that have increased in size and number as the day has progressed. What type of Otc meds should I give him? His legs and arms are fully covered and a few bumps are on his chest. Arms and legs received greatest exposure to grasses. He is otherwise healthy and has not had this type of response before.
Understanding your concern. As per your symptoms of allergic rashes on the arms and legs pointing towards allergic reaction. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to give your child levocetrizine and consult dermatologist without any delay. Because such allergic reaction can have certain complications like anaphylactic shock ,which can be life threatening. Doctor will treat your symptoms and may prescribe some substitute or alternate dose. You should avoid touching or pricking these rashes. Apply cold compresses on skin. Apply calamine to soothe any kind of itching.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
