Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My grandson just started taking Lamotrigine he s 8 years old. He has a rash developing all over his face. I just read a warning regarding this medicine and rashes more common in children. His pediatrician is referring him to a dermatologist. Is there anything over the counter we can get for him.
Understanding your concern. As per your symptoms of rashes on face after intake of Lamotrigine The symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards allergic reaction. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult dermatologist without any delay. Because such allergic reaction can have certain complications like anaphylactic shock ,which can be life threatening. Doctor will treat your symptoms and may prescribe some substitute or alternate dose. You should avoid touching or pricking these rashes. Apply cold compresses on skin. Apply calamine to soothe any kind of itching.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
