Hi. I ve been having a problem with allergic rhinitis for some time now. Tested for allergies and dust mite was quite severe. Previous symptoms were red itchy eyes, itchy throat, nasal inflammation, lower eyelid inflammation. Been on a course of singulair, antihistamines and nasal sprays. Also been on celestamine. This did not seem to relieve the symptoms. The main issue I m having now is the nasal inflammation and lower eyelids. Also been to an ent specialist that says its severe allergies and needs FESS surgery after the CT scan showed a lot of stuffiness. (no polyps) Is there any other medication I can try for this problem and should I see an allergist or my go again?
I think you should try more treatments before surgery. You can try to use corticosteroid for two weeks also can use antihistamines and decongestants. Also antibiotics can be used for two weeks. If the treatment fails then you can try surgery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
