How Can Allergic Skin Reaction Due To A Wasp Bite Be Treated?

I have a friend that was stung by a wasp and had an allergic reaction. They lost conciousness for an unknown amount of time. He is now in CCU at the hospital. They said that they are keeping him cold and is on a respirator and will be trying to warm his body up to hopefully be able to take him off the machines so that the damages can be determined that he has suffered over his body. What does all this actually mean?
