How Can An Abscess In The Lower Jaw Be Treated?
Our MD has sent my husband to an ENT doctor for an abscess in the lower jaw, at or near the TMJ. Something popped and hurt while he was chewing about a year ago. This has drained in his mouth recently several times. What can we expect to happen about this procedure to clean this abscess out? YYYY@YYYY

The doctor will clean the area with an antiseptic first then make a small incision in the area.
Even though it has ruptured, small pockets of pus may remain that would cause recollection. He or she may probe the area gently to encourage drainage to occur.
