How Can An Ear Infection Be Treated?

I have been diagnosed with an ear infection in my right ear give n antibiotic drops. It is still quite painfully and I have deminished hearing. What is more desturbing is I have lost the hearing in my other ear that apparently does not have infection in it. I have been given a large does of water pills to get rid of water build up in my body do to heart lung and liver problems. They are in the process of diagnosing my condition. My question is should I put the antibiotic drug in my left ear as well to see if my hearing would return. Thank-you for your help.
