Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my 13 month girl has a white blood count of 0.08 she had an ear infection in both ears gave here 2 antibiotic to clear it up and she had a viural infection to will that cause that and how long will it take to recover took here to childerns hospital will be taking here back on this Monday how low is it to be life threating
I have reviewed your query in detail and here is my advice. If the antibiotics given are working effectively, the symptoms of ear infection usually subside within 24-48 hours in children. And the infection usually clears up in few days (less than a week). However, fluid in the middle ear may persist for a few months after the infection clears up.
Please be advised to follow up with her pediatrician after completing the antibiotic course to see if the infection has cleared and if there is any remaining fluid accumulation. If the fluid is present, it is not a big issue unless the hearing is affected.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal,
