Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello I think I have an eating disorder but I don’t know for sure or what to do, I have a BMI of 15.2 (I am 5’9 and 103 pounds ,15 years old) I used to weigh more (I was at a healthy BMI female ) I do a lot of exercise to compensate for calories and feel sad for eating but I feel sad also about my body currently because I feel too skinny. I don’t know what to eat, I eat some days normally or what I think is normally but always think about it and get scared of eating too much and do exercise every night secretly because my mom doesn’t want me to do it. I feel hungry but don’t want to eat but even when I do eat I still feel hungry but stop eating, idk what to do also I wanted to go to the doctor but I’m scared of having to stay at the hospital and I really don’t want to do that. What’s up like help me plz what should I do?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Since you are 15 years old I would first of all advise you to talk with your mother who known you the best. Hiding something from mother will cost you much of usual good information that helps you overcome such problems as problem with diet, appetite, looking skinny, and so on. And if your mother feels like then she will surely get you to the right doctor for clinical evaluation, examination, counselling, and investigations like that for thyroid and so on to get the cause for treating it correctly. You will then be better that before and may not have such problems at all. So stop worrying or having phobia and have belief in your mother and doctors.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
