How Can An Enlarged Pancreas Along With Vomiting And Diarrhea Be Treated?

my fiancée is an alcoholic and has been In the er 2 times in the past week. he has an infection in his colon and his pancreas is enlarged. He has been vomiting, runny stools , losing weight and hasn t been doing as much as he use to. This is a condition he has had for awhile now. We have a doctors apt this week to see what damage is done to his pancreas. what are we up against. the doctors told us it doesn t look good.

As per your history and description, possibility of acute pancreatitis is more likely. It is acute inflammation of pancreas. This causes release of pancreatic enzymes (amylase, lipase). They cause vomiting, diarrhea, etc. So, it is better to get your serum amylase and lipase levels tested. If they are elevated then she will need hospitalization.
