Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I require surgery to repair an incisional hernia that became evident approx 1 year ago following major surgery to repair a fistula between the bladder and bowel. The operation for that issue has been successful apart from the hernia. The hernia does not trouble me apart from the bulge near my navel. My question is how complicated is the operation and do any of the operative risks outweigh the possibility of not going through with an operation ?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Hernia surgery is relatively easy and uncomplicated. If the hernia is small then surgery may be required. You can either for laparoscopic surgery or open procedure. It’s a simple procedure and chances for complications are very unlikely.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks.
