Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have an old acne scar and I rubbed it for over 3 hours a week ago in the centre of my forehead. Sebum and blood came out and the area now seems wounded and a scab has developed over the old scar. Its turned black and sensitive, the blackened area is about a 25c in area. What should I do?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have infected acne scar which is due to bacterial infection and due to excessive exposure to sunlight. I would suggest you to apply vitamin E before going to bed to fine texture of skin. Wash your face with face wash containing benzoyl peroxide then apply cream containing azelaic acid which is safe and very effective. If condition doesn't get better in a month then consult dermatologist for proper diagnosis and treatment . Doctor may prescribe retinoid ointment and antibiotic like clindamycin. Exfoliate your skin with non comedogenic exfoliant once a week to remove dead skin. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables also drink plenty of water.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
