How Can An Infected Ingrown Hair On The Leg Be Treated?
I had a whitehead on my leg and i poppped it about a week ago. Today i rubbed that same area and noticed it had gotten a bit swollen and bruised. I have been growing out my leg hair so i kinda assume its an irritated ingrown hair or infected ingrown hair. But i also fear it could be a buf bit that i irritated because the environment i work in is near an open desert with lots of spiders and bugs. Any answers?
From your explanation, it can either be an Ingrown hair which is a condition in which hairs of the body instead of growing outwards curls back and grown towards the skin.
Other cause can be an infected hair follicle or Folliculitis where due to bacterial infection the hair follicles become infected and inflamed leading to swelling, redness pain and lump formation.
You can start applying Muricoprin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment over it and also do cool compresses. If possible wear pants and keep the area covered until it heals completely.
Do not rub it or scratch it as it can cause irritation and inflammation to become more severe. You can also take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen for relief. Do cool compresses over it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
