How Can An Infected Toe Nail Be Treated?

My 37 year old son ( he has Asperger’s) discovered his toenail is red and pus & blood were coming from the sore. He went to to Urgent care and they told him to soak it and take the antibiotics they ordered for him. He went to work (he’s a custodian) and later checked his toe. Now there’s a pus pocket coming out of the other side of his toe. I told him to soak it . Since he’s already on an antibiotic does he need to see the Doctor or Pediatrist again?

Hello,

He may be suffering from paronychia may be due to Infection or impingement of injured nail lead to pus formation. Use tablet Amoxicillin plus Clavulanate twice a day for five days and local ointment.

If symptoms not improved, you need to consult surgeon, he may cut and remove the infected part and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
