Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had an infection room between my little toe and the next toe. My foot was swollen. I soaked in Epson salt and I am on antibiotics and pain killers. Today the inflammation started to burst through the skin between the toes. It left a deep wound. How should I treat this?
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
There is likely an abscess (localized collection of pus) in the area. If this is the case, it needs to be incised so that it can drain properly. Even though it has burst, small pockets of pus generally remain that can cause recollection. Your doctor can incise it in his or her office so that all the pus can be removed and it can heal appropriately. The antibiotics can be continued.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
