How Can An Injured Knee Be Treated?

My knee was severely strained and I partially tore my ACL. Now for the past three years I have been walking with a limp, unable to put weight or pressure on it, and it is tender to touch. I was told I need and immobilizer but I cannot afford one. What is a possible solution?
