was bitten by a Tick- did not notice till accidentally knocked tick head off with my hand- was at that time a flat very red oval on my hip by panty line. now almost a week later and I thought the red circle was fading but now a hard knot is forming in the very center of the oval. Should I be alarmed or should I put medication on ?
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern. Some advices that I can give to you are : -Apply an ice pack to a bite or sting for 15 to 20 minutes once an hour for the first 6 hours. -Elevate the area of the bite or sting to decrease swelling. -Try a nonprescription medicine for the relief of itching, redness, and swelling. -Hydrocortisone 1% cream or calamine lotion applied to the skin may help relieve itching. -A spray of local anesthetic containing benzocaine, such as Solarcaine, may help relieve pain. If your skin reacts to the spray, stop using it. Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
