How Can An Insect Bite On The Back Be Treated?

Hi. I got a bug bit on my back by what I thought was a mosquito almost a year ago. It was not and has not been painful. it only was very itchy. The bug bite is still on my back, and closed up, but it looks like what I saw today about the botfly. I d like to send someone a picture of the wound to help me deduce if I am dealing with one of these kinds of bites. I heard they fallout after 6-8 weeks, and I never seen anything or felt anything come out. It did however kill some of the skin around the bite itself. at this point it was never treated. Can someone take a look at the wound which is now healing and tell me if they this this is what happened to me, and if so, what I should do about the fact that its gone this long without being treated.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Some advice that I can give to you is:

-Apply an ice pack to a bite or sting for 15 to 20 minutes once an hour for the first 6 hours.
-Elevate the area of the bite or sting to decrease swelling.
-Try a nonprescription medicine for the relief of itching, redness, and swelling.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
