Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was in bed about 3 month ago and something bit my cheek near my nose. So I tried to get rid of it bt putting some zinc oxide ointment on i t and it more or less cleared up. Soon after it almost healed I got a bump on my lip that looked similar to the one by my nose so I used zinc oxide again and again it almost cleared up. Last night the bump on my lip showed up again so I am seriously thinking of seeing a doctor. I was trying to identify the look of the bite by looking at the pictures of bites on the internet when you note appeared. Can you help?
It looks like recurring bump on the lip can be either due to bacterial infection or hair follicle infection.. Other common cause of recurring bump on lip can be due to cold sore or fever blister that is a viral infection.. So my suggestion is to consult an Emergency room and get evaluated.. If cold sore is suspected then a blood test can be done to confirm the diagnosis.. You can be advised antiviral medicines like Acyclovir, Valacyclovir etc, along with topical application of antiviral ointment like Valtrex. If it is due to bacterial infection then antiseptic ointment can be applied..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
