How Can An Open Wound On The Calf Be Treated?

Hi, My husband has a open wound on his calf. I cleaned it with a wound cleaner and applied a healing cream Friday night. I did not change the bandage until today. I noticed there were a patch of small tiny maggots on his leg. I immediately washed them off with clear water. He is now sitting with his leg immersed in a plastic bag with clear water. He is resisting going to the ER. He wants to wait until tomorrow. what can I do to treat the wound?

Hello,
Welcom to Healthcaremagic.com.
I had gone through your question I can understand your concern.

You must clean the wound with antiseptic solution or ointment like hydrogen peroxide or Pivodene solution.

As the wound is on calf area restrict the leg movement because movement of leg will delay the healing.

If he feels slight feverish and annoying pain you can give him antibiotics like of ofloxicin and for pain like Accelofenac.
In case the wound is not responding well please visit the emergency room for management.
Hope it will help you.
