Hi doc.I went for ultra sound yesterday. The MD found out that I have an Overian Cyst (6 month size). Its full of water & needs surgery .. Q1:Is it serious to go for urgent surgery? Q2:What sort of surgery will be performed? Q3:Can I be able to bear child after the surgery since Im 40 yrs old? Q4:Can it burst if I don t go to surgery soon enough? And what are the consiquences?
Hello, As I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your ovarian cyst. Q 1.. If the cyst is small and silent there is no need to go for immediate surgery. But if it is fast growing or with other premaligmant changes you need surgery.
2)..It will be most probably Laproscopic surgery where only three holes of small size are made on your belly.
3).. Yes you can have children after surgery if you have crossed the menopause.
4).. No, there are less chances of cyst to burst but in case of secondary infection it may. Cyst are not fetal but they may hamper the function of adjacent organs, in your case it is overy. Hope my answer will help you and you will write to us further if you feel necessary. Also provide your feed back too. Regards Dr Muzaffar
