Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I was just wondering as I have what I thought was a whitehead on my lower lip line which I keep having to squeeze and this morning I noticed a bad smell coming from it and more of a watery pus popped out this time. Is this something I should be worried about and will it go away? I ve had this a few weeks now
As per your explanation, it looks like the whitehead like lump is due to infection that can be a hair follicle infection or localised bacterial infection..
At times infection in sebaceous gland can also cause painful bump with tenderness and pus formation..
Discharge of pus and bad smell further indicate infection in that area..
So for now you can clean the area of the bump with antiseptic solution and apply antiseptic ointment over it.. Do not touch the area with your hand to avoid spread of infection..
If still it does not get better or worsen you can consult an Emergency room and get evaluated so that a course of antibiotics can be advised..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
