I am a 26 year old female. I am suffering from anal fissure from last 1 week and I got this problem after my delivery 1 months back. Now breast feeding my baby. My doctor has prescribed cremaffin Plus syrup. Would there be any side effects if I take the syrup for long time? I mean can I continue taking the syrup and will there be any effect on my baby? And which is the best ointment to cure anal fissure?? Please help...
Anal fissure usually occurs due to constipation and/or straining while passing stools. Acute anal fissure can be very painful, during passing motions, or even while sitting on a hard surface. In mild or moderate cases, conservative management can help get relief. Please take good amounts of fruits, vegetables, fiber in food, and take at least 2 to 3 liters of fluids daily. This will keep the stools soft, and prevent constipation. Taking stool softeners like Cremaffin syrup, is fine for a short period. If taken for long periods of time, it can be habit forming. It would not affect breastfeeding your child. Ointments like lignocaine jel, applied before and after passing motions will give pain relief. It will relax the anal sphincter, and help relieve pain. You may have to use this for few months, till the condition is cured. In case of severe symptoms, not relieved with the above management, surgical management would be required.
