Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 83 year old man with a problem I have never had before....anal itch. I have tried 1% Hydrocortisone Cream which works temporarily, but does not go away. Also have tried a Triple antibiotic Plus which contains Bacitracin Zinc, Neomycin Sulfate Polymyxin B Sulfate and Pramozine HCI which is not any better.
Anal itching could usually be due to two causes. Either it could be due to Pinworm disease. This can be diagnosed by getting a stools testing, and if positive, a general physician can advise you on the deworming management.
The second reason could be due to any skin problem like dermatitis around the perianal area. This can be confirmed by a Dermatologist, who can advise the necessary tests and if this is the cause, the doctor can advise you on the management protocol.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ajit Kumar Varma
