How Can Anxiety And Panic Attack Be Treated?

My husband has been suffering from panic attacks off and on for about 5 years. He is on Cymbalta for pain management due to back issues, but I was wondering if there is a medication that he could take on a daily basis to help eliminate the panic attacks and anxiety.

A panic attack is an intense wave of fear characterized by its unexpectedness and debilitating, immobilizing intensity. They often strike out of the blue, without any warning. There may be no clear reason for the attack. They may even occur when you're relaxed or asleep.


Signs and symptoms of panic attacks :

Shortness of breath or hyperventilation

Heart palpitations or racing heart

Chest pain or discomfort

Trembling or shaking

Choking feeling

Feeling unreal or detached from your surroundings

Sweating

Nausea or upset stomach

Feeling dizzy, light-headed, or faint

Numbness or tingling sensations

Hot or cold flashes

Treatment for panic attacks :

1.Cognitive behavioral therapy for panic attacks and panic disorder
2.Exposure therapy for panic attacks and panic disorder
Medications
1.benzodiazepines
2 . anti depressants
Self help tips can be used like
1.Learn about panic and anxiety.
2.Avoid smoking, alcohol, and caffeine.
3.Learn how to control your breathing
4.Practice relaxation techniques. (yoga)
5.Connect face-to-face with family and friends
6.regular exercises
7.Get enough restful sleep.
