Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter stopped nursing her 10 month old and also decided to come off of her birth control pill around the same time. She started experiencing anxiety - at first, mild then it slowly became more intense and she was having occasional panic attacks, as well. After 6 mos of seeking help form her primary care, OB/gym and a psychologist she has received several different opinions and is now on Zoloft and back on a birth control pill...symptoms were better at first (after starting both at same time approx 5 weeks ago) She felt good after 2 weeks but now she is experiencing nausea, irregular periods and her anxiety has returned? Feeling frustrated and wish she could find an answer. I don’t want this published online
Hello Anxiety is a frequent condition after giving a birth and your daughter's condition will get better with time. Actually, she is on Zoloft an antidepressant drug which needs a time for best results, but she may need to consult her doctor to adjust doses for best results. Also, she needs to see her Ob/Gyn doctor to regulate her menstrual cycle, especially the irregular periods can increase the degree of anxiety. Try to increase the contact between her and the baby because many studies shows that the contact mom-baby has a great benefit in the matter of mother's anxiety.
Hope I answered your question Wish your daughter a speedy recovery Best regards Dr. Noor Farid
