How Can Appetite Loss And Fatigue Be Treated?

I all of a sudden felt ill, loss of appetite, fatigued, and achy. I have been eating soup, crackers, toast and oatmeal with fruit and fruit pops. I actually feel warm and not better, even after resting. What should I do to feel better? I work all night.

Thanks for contacting with your health concern

1. loss of appetite and fatigue are not a disease but symptom of an underlying disease, and without being able to examine you directly I'm of the following symptomwise approach:

i. If after taking proper rest, diet you are not feeling better, then certain important points that may be missed are:

- As history of falling ill is present, thus one has to find out the cause of the fever, and before labeling it as fever, one must look as a compulsory routine for pallor [Hb%], jaundice [S.bilirubin], neck stiffness, Abdomen for liver & spleen [ ultrasound], and auscultate the chest [X- ray]

ii. the feeling of warm might mean that fever is still there, check with your primary care physician and ask for:

- Hb%, EBC, ESR, Peripheral smear [for MP]
- Widal titre
- Urine culture, since additional treatment will depend upon the cause of the fever, so evaluation of associated symptoms is a must.

2. to fell better: take soft food like ganji, kheer, soft rice with milk/ ghee/ plain daal, boiled vegetables,, take plenty of fluids every 2-3 hours, take milk with Horlicks/bournvita, for snacks you can take plain idli with butter, bread butter, toast jam, or cornflakes. Take fruits like Apple, banana, pears, watermelon, dry fruits and biscuits

Avoid chilies, cold drinks, cold water, ice cream, oily & fried foods
