How Can Appetite Loss Be Treated?

My Mother was recently hospitalized for a UTI. Before she was hospitalized and given treatment to cure this condition, my Mother ate 3 small meals a day. 1 week I before I took her to her Primary Doctor, I caught her flushing the meals that she always ate down the toilet. This was obviously related to the UTI. I asked he Doctor to prescribe an Appetite Stimulant. That worked while she was in the hospital but her transfer to a rehab center interrupted the medication, No she only will take Ensure Plus 5X per day. Is there anything I could give her to stimulate her appetite.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I reviewed your query and here is advise.
Oxandrolone is a synthetic testosterone derivative. It stimulates appetite and promotes weight gain similarly to anabolic steroids or naturally occurring testosterone in the body.
Also you can use zinc supplements and vitamin B complex for stimulating appetite.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
