Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I had gallbladder removed a month ago and have no appetite and I have to force myself to eat a few crackers a day I have no appetite or desire to eat but I know I have to eat why is it I can not get myself to eat anything or to try to I am extremely thirsty as well all the time
It takes time for a person to recover completely after gallbladder removal. Digestive problems are a side-effect after gallbladder removal. I would advise you to take an antacid like ranitidine on empty stomach for a few days as it will help in gastric emptying and help you to digest food better. Take small meals at frequent intervals. Avoid spicy and oily food as it may make you nauseous.
If you still don't regain your appetite, you may consider taking syrup cyproheptadine which will help you to gain back your appetite. You can discuss it with your physician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nazma.amman
