How Can Arthritis In The Feet Be Treated?

I have arthritis in my foot and it is getting very hard to walk. I have had a CT scan and it has shown that the bones are crumbling and there is no cushion in between. It is very painful, and I am wondering if surgery is the answer. I also have had a couple of blood clots recently, so would have to be off my blood thinner if I had surgery.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Arthritis is a disorder. you need to do regular exercises to reduce further deformity. As I am unaware of the medications that you are taking. Consult your Rheumatologist. Meet a physiotherapist to know about the exercises that you can do. Arthritis takes minimum 6 months to show some result to medicines. if nothing works then only replacement is an option.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
