How Can Arthritis On The Thumbs Be Treated?

I recently fractured my thumb (7 weeks removed), and was told I now have arthritis in this thumb. I forget the name of the bone but it is at the base of my thumb. Anyway, the entire thumb hurts not just the part that was fractured. What can I do about the pain. I have been taking 500mg Naproxen but it is not effective, I also take 800mg Ibuprofen and it is not very effective, and I don t want to keep taking it. What can I take that doesn t pose a threat to my kidneys?

Dear sir /madam
For thumb arthritis it is recommended to do under water exercises,

If you are worried about oral analgesics then local application of analgesic gels will reduce systemic toxicity

Grip strengthening exercises are also to be done

arthritis is a long standing process and cartilage damage cannot be regenerated once it is damaged.
