How Can Atherosclerosis Be Treated?

My husband is having surgery tomorrow regarding the plague buildup, his left carotid is 85 % and the right is 70 %. Last Saturday, he was taken by ambulance, they diagnose two small strokes. We were told that the right carotid had given him more of a problem than the left. They took him off Hydralazalin and Amlodipine, but prescribed Atorvastatin and Aspirin, and also taking clopidogrel daily. We were only to take his blood pressure sitting down.
