Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my daughter is away at college. She went to an Urgent care on Monday and was swabbed for possible bacterial vaginosis (sp) and given an antibiotic. Results are still not in. Although she has been on the antibiotic since Monday, the smell has not gone away and she said that when she examines her vagina, the interior looks white and feels hard . She has a NUVA ring (SP) inserted and is in a monogamous relationship. She has caleed the Urgent care and is expecting a return call. She has a class this evening but hopes she will be in a position to accept the call. What should I advise her 200 miles away?
the best treatment for bacteria vaginosis is by using metronidazole or tinidazole. but is better to take high vaginal swab and make labarotory investigation to know what are causative organisms,it may be only bacteria vaginosis or/and pelvic inflammatory disease.so lab investigation is better to diffirinciet with it.
