How Can Bipolar Disorder Be Treated?

My daughter has had this condition for several years. They say she is bipolar, but what I read on your website, I am not sure. She may seem to be quite happy and then all of a sudden she is extremely angry, yelling, screaming, etc. It takes quite a while to talk her down to a calm reasonable state. But when she is happy, she is the most giving, patient person. Any thoughts o how to get her to overcome this situation and be more level?
