How Can Blocked Eustachian Tubes Be Treated?
My eustacian tubes have been a battle for me for years. I have had three merengotamies (pardon the spelling). How can I keep my eusaticain tubes clear? I have tried pinching my nose and swallowing, etc. , but that just does not work. Specifically, would a weekly routine using a vaporizer or humidier keep the tubes clean and open? I don t like the idea of perpetual steroids, or steroid inhalers. Or antihistamine inhalers either. Could the vaporizer of humidifier work?????? JMW St. Loiuis

Yes, vaporizer or humidifier is useful for opening of eustachian tubes. Possible causes for eustachian tube dysfunction is
1. Chronic allergies: like the cool environment or air pollutants or cool drinks and freeze water, ghee, sweets, ice creams, etcetera.
2. Repeated infections: like pharyngitis or sinusitis or tonsillitis etcetera.
3. Nose defects like deviated nasal septum or turbinates hypertrophy etcetera. To identify the cause and treat the problem. Use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day. Use tablet levocetirizine and montelukast daily at night.If symptoms not improved, you can use nasal corticosteroid or decongestant sprays.Please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
