Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have Factor V Leiden and I am trying to find a diet that will help offset the risk of Blood Clots. It s a Vitamin K deficiency and causes the blood to clot when its not supoosed to. I am a smoker and I am also on Nexplanon as a form of birth control.
First of all quit smoking as soon as possible because this will increase the risk of bleeding. Avoid hormonal contraceptive measures as this can also cause a risk of bleeding.
Eat green leafy vegetables like Broccoli, coriander, spinach etc. They all are a rich source of vitamin K.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Kaushal Bhavsar, Pulmonologist
