I recently had my ovaries removed, last week a lung biopsy which was negative and a pneumothorax, and a chest tube for a few days. prior to all of this my BS were around 130-150 then afterwards they have been way higher. I take metformin 750mg twice a day and Januvia once a day and my numbers are around 200-350 what can I do?
Dear madam i can understand your concern i am very sorry about your condition. in my opinion the most probable cause of increased blood sugar might be due to the infection and surgical stress. its not advisable to continue with metformin and januvia especially after surgery and during chest tube During pneumothorax usage of metformin is associated with hypoxia induced lactic acidosis. i suggest you to consider using insulin for fast recovery and control of blood sugar. kindly discuss with your doc for dosage information. regards
