Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear madam i can understand your concern
i am very sorry about your condition.
in my opinion the most probable cause of increased blood sugar might be due to the infection and surgical stress.
its not advisable to continue with metformin and januvia especially after surgery and during chest tube
During pneumothorax usage of metformin is associated with hypoxia induced lactic acidosis.
i suggest you to consider using insulin for fast recovery and control of blood sugar.
kindly discuss with your doc for dosage information.
regards
