Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has a brain tumor, seen the doctor and will have it removed. It is pressing on the optic nerve. Is this what is causing the off balance and what are the risk to the surgery that will be done through the nose. Also he says may be done out patient but not sure until he studies his case. We are set for a consultation with him.
Hello. A detailed record of the patient is needed to arrive at a final opinion. Anyhow the tumor may have an origin from pituitary gland compressing optic nerves. Surgery of such tumors depend on many factors for example size and exact origin of the tumor. Surgery through nose (Trans-sphenoidal approach) is ideal for small to medium size tumors in relevant brain areas. For a detailed review kindly share all relevant patient record. Feel free to ask. Stay blessed.
