How Can Breathing Difficulty And Anxiety Be Treated When Suffering From Parkinson S Disease?
My mother is 85 and in the end stages of Parkinson s. She also has CHF, COPD. She is on 3L O2 with sats around 95-97. She complains all the time that she can t breath. She gets 1mg of Clonopin about every 6hrs for anxiety. She gets her carbadopa/levodopa every 3 hrs. This helps some, but it s getting worse fast. I m considering hospice but am not sure if they can offer more than what we have now. Will morphine help with anxiety or her breathing difficulties?
Morphine is not a drug used to treat anxiety or breathing difficulty. It is a pain killer and is generally used for severe pain.
In the case of your mother, there can be several reasons for her breathing difficulty. COPD is a possible cause, anxiety and also Parkinson's disease.
It is important that you send your mother to be seen by a medical provider and determine the cause of her shortness of breath as the treatment will depend on the exact cause.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
