How Can Bronchitic Be Treated?

My daughter has bronchitis and is taking a z pack now and has 2 days left. She has a cough with it and the doctor usually prescribes a Medrol pack but his PA did not call it in. I have Prednissone 5 mg that my dog takes. Is it ok to take this till we call the doctor tomorrow.

Hi,

No, it is not. One should never take medicine that is not prescribed for them. Also, veterinary medicine should not be taken by humans. Medicine for an animal could have a different formulation than what humans take.

How often does she have bronchitis? Does she or any member of your family have asthma, hay fever, or eczema (chronic, red rash that is extremely itchy). These are allergic diseases. If she improves when taking Medrol (a steroid). I wonder if she has asthma. One of the medicines given to patients with asthma is a steroid.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
