General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi Rebecca,

I understand your concern.

Having shortness of breath at night should be further investigated to determine the right cause:
- respiratory tract problems:chronic bronchitis or asthma, run respiratory function test, chest X-ray
- depending on your age, it could be due to hormonal flare up, get the hormone levels checked in your blood together with a thyroid function test
- psychological issues, being overstressed could be another issue. However, we should rule out organic problems first.

In either case, I recommend to:
- avoid caffeinated drinks especially in the afternoon
- drink plenty of water
- avoid spicy, processed, oily foods
- take aloe vera/valeriana supplement at night to have a good sleep
- don't sleep late at night
- have short walking in fresh air

Wish fast recovery.
