How Can Bruises Around The Eyes, Nose And Mouth Be Treated?

Yesterday I had a gastroscopy. Upon waking up in the recovery room both my husband and attending nurse were very alarmed to see extensive broken capillaries and bruising around my eyes, nose and mouth. The Dr. Was informed but the anaesthesiologist met with us to suggest the injuries were caused due to coughing during the procedure. My question is two part. Is this a reasonable explanation and if so, how do I remedy these injuries?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The bruising in your eyes, mouth and nose is suggesting possible trauma on your face. Possibly something went wrong during the procedure. But we should understand what, especially when it comes to the scope travelling into your stomach. One thing is sure: that's not normal and should understand what. So must ask or investigate what happened.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
