How Can Burning Sensation In The Vagina Be Treated?
I was on antibiotics called Augmentin and it gave me a yeast infection. The dr prescribed fluconazole (1 tablet for 3 days) but I didn t get any relieve. She then told me to reduce my sugar intake and no white flour. I asked a pharmacist and he gave me a gyno travogen ovule which I inserted a few hours ago. As soon as it was inserted I had a more burny itchy sensation. I just washed with soap and water thinking it would cool it down but it didn t. What next should I do?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Vaginal dryness is common and usually results of lack of estrogens, but some other less common causes may be present. The most common treatment for vaginal dryness due to low estrogen levels is topical estrogen therapy.
In order to keep the vagina more lubricated, try using a vaginal moisturizer (Replens). You use a disposable applicator such as Vagifem to insert a tablet into your vagina once a day for the first two weeks of treatment.
Avoid using douches, bubble baths, scented soaps, and lotions around the sensitive vaginal area. These products can worsen dryness.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein
