Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I developed terrible carpal tunnel during my 3rd pregnancy that has not fully going away.I quit nursing 2 months ago and am still having problems. Today I went in for an X-ray of my hand (got hit by my son s baseball ball) and the doctor said that i have several bone cysts on my wrist and wants to refer me to a specialist.Could it be the cysts causing the numbness when I sleep vs true carpal tunnel?Would the first line treatment be cortisone shots?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Carpel tunnel syndrome as well as multiple cysts that were observed when causing pressure on the nerves (in sleeping posture). Supplying hand would lead to your symptoms. MRI would differentiate between the two.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
