Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

For carpel tunnel syndrome, treatment depends on severity of compression and clinical symptoms. First line treatment is analgesics night splinting and tablet Pregalin one at bedtime. If not helping local injection of Depomedrol around nerve will reduce swelling and pain. If still not relieved surgery is next option.

Surgery can be done with minimal incisions by arthroscopy and open incision method. There is no harm in surgery if you are suffering in your routine activities and night sleep is disturbed. Delayed in surgery might lead to muscle atrophy and nerve degeneration set in. At this stage even if you go for surgery benefit will be less.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
