Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Why do my lips feel dry but waxy. Everytime i rub them together they are dry but at the same time they feel waxy and now i have wrinkles on my lips whenever i speak. Whenever i stretch my lips when speaking i can feel the dryness and in some cases they hurt. I apply vaseline and a lip balm that is spf 15 but nothing seems to work. I also tried putting aloe vera and it didnt work
I would suggest you to start applying thick coat of petroleum jelly over the lips and do it frequently throughout the day.. It will help in locking moisture and prevent dryness by providing lubrication.. Beeswax containing lip balm is also helpful.. Avoid excess sun exposure or exposure to very dry and cold wind.. Avoid licking the lips as it further evaporates moisture from the lips.. You should drink plenty of water.. You should take multivitamin supplements.. Exfoliate your skin with a gentle scrub..
In case if there is no resolution in a week consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and he can do a microscopic examination of the scrapings from the lips to check for infection and treatment can be done accordingly..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
