Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my 19 year old brother has chickenpox. I'm 24 and have had chickenpox before when I was younger. I've got a few spots on my chin but can't tell if they're just spots due to blocked pores or if I've caught chickenpox. Apart from these spots I've not had any other symptoms associated with the chickenpox. How can I tell if these spots are chickenpox or just acne type spots?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The classic symptom of chickenpox is a rash that turns into itchy, fluid-filled blisters that eventually turn into scabs. The rash may first show up on the face, chest, and back then spread to the rest of the body.
Other typical symptoms that may begin to appear 1 to 2 days before rash include fever, headache, tiredness, and loss of appetite.
Most people who have had chickenpox will not get it again because they are immune to it for life. However, rarely some people who have had chickenpox will develop a related condition called shingles later on.
As per above statement, it is less likely that you have chickenpox. However, I advise you to consult your doctor for proper clinical examination.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
