Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Chronic COPD And Severe Body Ache Be Rteaetd?
I had a very severe nodular pneumonia last year, 60 nodules. Since then I have been dxs with COPD. I have been hospitalized with pneumonia in December having gram positive cells in pairs. Was discharged with Doxycycline and was again hospitalized in January with a exasperation with gram negative and the gram positive in pairs still remaining. Since that time I have been on a 7 day course of Citroen which eradicated the gram negative but the gram positive in pairs still remained so they gave me a course of Keflex for 5 days with no result. A sputum sample showed I still have the gram positive in pairs with moderate WBCS. I went to an ENT, he scoped me and he found that the sputum was coming up from lungs and not down from my sinuses. For about 6 weeks now I have had severe pains throughout my entire body. I m having a bronchoscope soon but they have no idea where the pain would be coming from. Let me add I m allergic to Sulfa, Clindamyacin and Mefoxin. Any suggestions? Also I have a 5 level plate and cage from C4-T1 and a spinal cord stimulator. Thank you for any help.
Need not to worry. Well, COPD is progressive disease affecting lung functions. It will also cause body ache as its can be severe infection. I will suggest you to change your lifestyle and take inhaled drugs (bronchodilators). Treatment of COPD is as follows.
I would suggest you to:
1. Quit smoking if you are smoker. 2. Start triple drug in inhalation. LABA (long acting beta 2 agonist) and inhaled corticosteroids with anticholinergic drug. 3. Enroll in pulmonary rehabilitation center where Chest physiotherapy and deep breathing exercise will be given. 4. Take adult respiratory vaccines like pneumococcal and influenza vaccines. They will prevent future lung infections.
So, better to consult pulmonologist and start all these simultaneously. Take proper rest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
